The WFH Guy story

I remember the feeling- elation at the chance to work fully from home, with no commute, in my comfortable sweatpants instead of slacks and a tie.

Despite the circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic and the delicate state of the world we were in, I felt like at least my work life would now be ideal, and I could cruise through the rest of my career.

This, unsurprisingly, was not the case.

I was spending more than I should on take out meals (because I finally had the flexibility in my schedule to), drinking craft beers multiple weeknights, calling 2-3 short runs or 15 minute yoga sessions each week sufficient physical activity for me (it wasn't), and not dedicating time to my social life (mainly due to the pandemic).

What sounded like a cozy, easy life led to me not being my best self, and feeling incomplete.

Sitting at a desk in my home all day with barely any outdoor time, continuous movement, meaningful social interaction, or plan for my financial future did not provide fulfillment.

Hindsight is 20/20, but now it seems obvious to me why the first year and a half of my remote career was not the slam dunk life I imagined.

I'd like to think I've learned a thing or two since then after making many, many mistakes as a remote employee in sales.

And I continue to learn, as I'm far from perfect.

The goal here is to pass along some best practices, educational material, trends, and anecdotes that'll help you be your best self as you WFH.

I'm not sure what this will fully evolve into, but I couldn't be more excited to get started.
